In our Research Library we maintain a complete collection of the Journal and Proceedings of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) of London, England beginning with the year 1830.
Available are the following:
1830 – 1880 Journal of the RGS Series I 50 Volumes
1855 – 1878 Proceedings of the RGS Series I 22 Volumes
1879 – 1892 Proceedings of the RGS Series II 14 Volumes
1893 – ongoing Geographical Journal
200+ Volumes

These publications contain nearly every major expedition and geographical achievement of the last 175 years.

Beginning with the exploration of the Niger River in Africa by Richard Lander and the dramatic search in the Arctic for Sir John Franklin in the 1830’s all the way to the heroic achievements of Shackleton, Scott and Amundsen in the Antarctic (1909-12) and the Ascent of Mount Everest by Hillary and Tenzing in 1953.

Most articles and papers are accompanied by full colour maps. Much can be found here that was never printed in the official books which often appeared years later.

Upon request we will photocopy (maps in colour) relevant sections and make them available to bona fide Academics and Researchers. There will be a charge of out-of-pocket expenses for this Service.

A complete on-line Index of these Publications will be available in the not too distant future. Please click for your request.
